Repo man grazed in head with bullet in east Birmingham

A man working to repossess a vehicle reportedly was grazed in the head with a gunshot in east Birmingham this afternoon, and authorities said the wound was not life-threatening.

The shooting reportedly happened on 38th Street North, and the repo man drove to a gasoline station near the intersection of Tallapoosa Street and East Lake Boulevard to ask for help about 2 p.m., witnesses at the gas station said.

A young boy was in the wrecker with the repo man, witnesses said. The man was taken to the hospital, and the young boy was being tended to by a woman on the scene. There is a bullet hole in the back window of the wrecker, which has a Certified Asset Recovery sign on the side of it.
