SHALIMAR – A 51-year-old man aimed his rifle at three men who were sent to repossess his boat, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
The three men came by boat to the dock at 800 Choctaw Lane and lowered Robert Brown’s boat from the lift, the report said. Brown and another man came outside and demanded to see paperwork for the repossession. The three repo-men told Brown to contact his finance company.
Brown said he was going to get his gun, the report said. He went inside, came back out, and aimed his rifle with a scope at the men. One of them ducked down and took off with the repossessed boat into the bay.
Another one of the repo-men was trying to leave in the boat he showed up in when Brown “leveled the rifle” at him, the report said. Brown’s fiancée saw this happen, blew an air horn, and Brown’s son came out of the house and grabbed the gun from his father.
Brown said he thought the men were stealing his boat, according to the report.
He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
