FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County police said they have found the Ford Mustang wanted in connection with the murder of a repo man.

27-year-old Brandon Thomas was killed and 36-year-old Willie Thackston was injured in the Thursday morning shooting on Milam Loop in Fairburn.

Police tell CBS Atlanta 29-year-old Justin Moore shot Thomas and Thackston when they tried to reposes Thomas’ 2004 Ford Mustang.

Clayton Police say the car was abandoned on Aviation parkway near Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, but Moore was not with the car.

Police said Moore came out and started shooting at the two men, who had a tow truck to repossess the Mustang.

The two men fled in the tow truck with the car attached, but Moore followed them in a van.

Police said Moore ran the tow truck off the road and shot and killed Thomas and wounded Thackston. Moore then took the Mustang and drove away.

Peter Patterson lives nearby. The sound of the shots woke him from his sleep.

“One, two in the morning, you’re hearing gunshots and you don’t know what’s going on,” said Patterson.

Maurice Uso is struggling to understand why would anyone shoot a man over a car.

“The repo men were not at fault,” said Uso. “If you don’t make your payments, they’re right to come take your car.”

Fulton County Police were involved in a chase of the Mustang up I-85 onto I-285 following the shootings, but ended pursuit due to safety concerns.

CBS Atlanta identified the towing company sent to repossess the vehicle as Hill and Associates of Marietta.

Thackston remains in fair condition at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Moore is a black male, 5’ 10”, and 176 lbs. Moore is possibly armed and may be driving 2004 gray Ford Mustang with tag # AZZ9191.
