A vehicle repossession on Little Valley Road could have gone better Monday.
Two employees of a Lacey company pulled into a driveway and chained up a Chevy Blazer. They planned to quickly pull it away from the house, then hook it better for the long haul.
They didn’t realize the owner had jumped in the Blazer. He put the key in the ignition and started it so he could get a CD and other belongings out of the truck. He didn’t think the vehicle would be taken if he were inside it, but the tow truck drivers didn’t see him and took off. The owner put on the Blazer’s brakes to try to keep from getting dragged, but just skidded along.
The 49-year-old brother of the man in the Blazer later told investigators he thought his sibling was being kidnapped. He chased the tow truck with his Dodge pickup, passed it on Little Valley Road and slammed on his brakes. The rigs collided in a tangle.
The repo man called for another tow truck to pull them apart. Then he took proceeded in taking the Blazer.
Deputies forwarded a report to the prosecutor for possible charges of reckless driving and reckless endangerment.
