The American Repossessor

Well, it’s been quite a long time coming…the CHANGE  that is to www.theamericanrepossessor.com and here it is!

As I have said many times previously, I don’t believe in CHANGE for CHANGE sake but believe that this is a CHANGE that has been needed for some time and has been well worth waiting for – a new logo and branding that will set the pace for the future for our new website and all that the www.americanrepossessor.com represents.

This website will be a ‘work in progress’ for some time as we continue to develop it to include many of the existing features and add many other new ones – but one has to start somewhere.

You will see over the next few months some of the new additional elements that have been developed to provide the Repossession Industry with a vibrant, pro-active, professional and quality website, that provides knowledge and education, amongst other things.

Watch this space!  – as more and more is added to it.

I am pleased to welcome Recovery Specialist Insurance Group (RSIG) as the first advertiser and columnist to the new www.theamericanrepossessor.com website.  In addition, I want to point out to all within the industry that an additional section to their contribution, is the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund – a section that EVERYONE should be aware of as it is for the benefit of the Repossession Industry as a whole.  Because of its importance, www.theamericanrepossessor.com will be donating the space for its inclusion each month, free of charge,  as part of its support to the Repossession Industry.  BUT just reading about the Fund is not enough!  You need to contribute to it too as “there by the grace of God, go I” and that means, anyone of us could need the Fund, at any unforeseen time in the future.  So please give generously!

Another welcomed addition is the American Recovery Association (ARA).  Being part of an Association is extremely important if we are to professionalize the industry – they are there to help you and your company.  ARA have been extremely pro-active in being the lead behind the first North American Repossessors Summit earlier this year in Dallas and are now forging ahead in preparation and planning for the second Summit in March 2010.  Again, this is another event that www.theamericanrepossessor.com is extremely supportive of as we have to start somewhere in looking to unite our industry.  Because of this, I and several others are providing time and expertise free of charge, in being a member of the planning of this event, to help set the pace for the future of our industry.

CHANGE comes in many ways, some we choose and others are imposed upon us.  This one may have been imposed on our industry, but it is a good imposition – The Red Flag Rule Program.

As part of your customer service to your clients, you should already be compliant with the new Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Red Flag Rules re Identity Theft laws that came  into effect 1 August 2009 and as the Financial Institutions have had to comply, so do repossession companies as you supply your services to them and the client provides you with third party information i.e. the debtor.  I hope you are in compliance because the FTC will not be changing this deadline.

As I said the new www.theamericanrepossessor.com is a ‘work in progress’ and as the months go by you will see many new areas being added.

Progress and CHANGE go hand in hand, and www.theamericanrepossessor.com will be one of the most progressive websites related to the Repossession/Recovery Industry and it is CHANGE that will drive its development and growth.
