Two people were struck by the vehicle they were attempting to repossess in an incident June 6 in Newnan.
Vianey Guerrero, 21, of Newnan and Robert Dean, 38, of Newnan were in the Kroger parking lot at 1751 Newnan Crossing Boulevard East at 2:52 p.m. trying to repossess a green Saturn, according to the Newnan Police Department incident report.
Guerrero told police that as they approached the vehicle, they noticed a man in the driver’s seat of the car. That man is identified as Tony Lee Newton, 34, of 142 Pope Circle in Newnan. Guerrero was standing in front of the car, Dean behind, when they told Newton of the repossession. Newton became agitated and started the car, according to the officer’s report. He put the car in reverse, hitting Dean and then pulled forward, striking Guerrero. Newton drove through the parking lot while Guerrero remained on the hood.
