STAMFORD — A towing company with a history of traffic violations is fighting a city ruling that will keep it from expanding to the South End.
East Coast Towing last month filed an appeal in state Superior Court against the Zoning Board of Appeals, which in January denied its application for a used-car dealership license at 86 Elmcroft Road. There is no basis for the ZBA’s safety concerns and regulations allow such a use on the site, the appeal said.
Joseph Romaniello, owner of East Coast Towing, is seeking a used-car dealership license because it is required under state law for any place that sells, stores and repairs used cars. At a public hearing, Romaniello said he intended to use the South End site as a “satellite shop” and needs the license to repair and store vehicles there.
