He’s repossessed a Hells Angels enforcer’s prized Dodge Viper and Mercedes, both in the same week, had dirty diapers hurled at his head and been kicked in the face while operating his tow truck. But nothing was more unnerving than being surrounded by a group of belligerent, hormone-addled pregnant women.

Now that was intimidating, recalls Mitchell Martin. Cruising behind the wheel of his polished, three-tonne white tow truck emblazoned with blue tribal art, the goateed tow truck driver remembers the hairy incident inside the underground parking lot at the medical centre in West Van. He was dispatched to tow an illegally parked SUV.

Just as he hooked up the black truck, the owner, a pregnant woman, arrived. The woman bristled when asked to pay $40-plus-tax to get her SUV off the truck. She got aggressive, and a few other pregnant women joined the fray. Outnumbered, Martin decided it was best to lock himself inside the truck and call the WVPD. Even the young son of one of the rampaging women joined in with a verbal uppercut: “F*** you Mr. Tow Truck.”
